Premiere your film in front of press, film industry leaders, professionals, and film lovers. Submit to NBFF 2017.

Celebrating its 18th year, the Newport Beach Film Festival (NBFF) annually showcases over 350 films from 50 countries and attracts over 50,000 attendees, making it one of Southern California’s longest running and largest film events.

NBFF is also recognized as one of the leading film festivals in the world by Variety as host of their annual ‘10 Cinematographers to Watch’ event and has been named a ‘Film Festival Worth the Entry Fee’ by Movie Maker Magazine.

Comprehensive Review Process

All official submissions to the NBFF are screened by at least three members of the NBFF’s film review committee and two Festival programmers. Following the careful and democratic initial review process, the Festival’s senior programming team further reviews the films, engages in deliberation and makes the final selections.

Dedicated Support

Each participating filmmaker is paired with a Festival programmer dedicated to optimizing the Festival experience. Programmers assist filmmakers with travel planning, marketing and screening logistics. As a true filmmaker’s Festival run by a team of film lovers, the NBFF provides a personal and enriching experience for each filmmaker.

The Newport Beach Experience

In addition to experiencing the thrill of showcasing your work to a live audience, filmmakers in attendance will have the opportunity enjoy beautiful Newport Beach California. As one of the top coastal destinations in the world, Newport Beach offers a wide range of outdoor recreational activities including surfing, kayaking and sailing. NBFF hosts numerous social, cultural and educational events, ranging from intimate Filmmaker cocktail events to live dance performances to filmmaking seminars to signature galas.

What People Say About Us

  • “This is the most, pleasant, civilized and gentile Festival I’ve ever been at; I’m so impressed with everyone here.”

  • There’s a good reason that the Newport Beach Film Festival is the biggest film entertainment event in Orange County, and why it’s become a premiere stop on the festival circuit. Newport Beach, apart from being one of the best luxury destinations in Orange County, is home to some of the most film-loving audiences in the country. 52,000 people attended the NBFF last year alone. When my second film, Douchebag, debuted to critical success and studio interest, I was excited to return to the NBFF and screen the film to a packed house of serious filmgoers. I got to see both sides of the festival when I served as a juror for the NBFF in 2012 and saw just how devoted the staff is to their participants. Priding themselves as a “filmmaker’s festival,” the staff of the NBFF goes out of its way to make sure the moviemakers presenting during their event are taken care of, and that each has the best screening experience possible.

  • “Newport Beach sits at the cultural center of Orange County. For the longest time, it was believed that Orange County made little contribution to global culture, but in retrospect, it is clear that it has acted as the genesis of youth and active lifestyle trends that reverberate around the world. As Newport Beach strives to have it’s own artistic identity, the Festival provides a critical point of entry to artistic filmmaker voices from around the world.”

  • This is what the Newport Beach Film Festival does better than 95% of the world’s Festivals - it provides an incredible audience with a voracious appetite for the Festival’s films, sold-out screenings, large beautiful theaters that play your film the way it was intended to be seen.” Educated, well-attended Q&A sessions and panels where audience and other filmmakers can learn how to make movies. Hosted parties each night allow for opportunities to meet those audience members and fellow filmmakers. The Q&A’s were lively and enlightening and revealed both the processes behind the film and the personalities within it. The audiences were appreciative and the word of mouth outside the supportive landscape created by the Newport Beach Film Festival organizers. This sort of stuff is invaluable to a film.
