A love letter to the enduring societal, historical, creative, and artistic value of typewriters. Residing in Berkeley, this local shop still believes in the typewriter as an essential tool in the creative process. This moving documentary explores the store’s history as well as that of the typewriter and the importance people still place in it. Testimonies from Sam Shepard, Tom Hanks, and John Mayer, among others are portrayed in a thought-provoking examination on the changing dynamic between humans and machines, as well as a resistance to the paradigm of our reliance on technology.
