About the Event: The Youth Film Showcase presented by Volcom will showcase a unique selection of short films produced by filmmakers 18 years and younger. The Festival is thrilled to celebrate the artistic works and visions of young people from around the world. The Festival seeks to create a forum for young filmmakers and encourage freedom of expression through cinema. Screenings will take place at Edwards Island Cinema in Newport Beach. Past Highlights: The 2006 Festival welcomed actor, comedian and O.C. native Will Ferrell as the Honorary Chair of the Newport Beach Film Festival Youth Division. In 2007, eighteen films were selected to screen from over one hundred submissions. Volcom's founder and CEO Richard Woolcott presented cash awards to the winners. Volcom provided gift bags with cool Volcom merchandise to all the participating filmmakers. Other highlights included filmmaker question and answer sessions, a post party at the Variety Hospitality Lounge at Fashion Island.
